Sinterklaas/Hanukkah” pop-up dinner event from “Vegan Sundays”

Last time after composing a German vegan menu I thought it would be a piece of cake to make a Sinterklaas/Hanukaah one. Nevertheless I realized that apart from Latkes and Sufganiot for Hanukkah and All kinds of sweets for Sinterklaas, these holidays don’t offer many traditional dishes.
Well, just to calm you down, The very loved and deserved Latkes, Sufganiot and peppernoten will be included in a creative way in this menu. But not only.
The carrot in the shoe of Sinterklaas kind of gave me a hint about the direction I need to go. Carrot, of course, amazing root vegetable available in abundance, local and in season. No, don’t worry, I’m not going to make a menu which is all around carrot. But I am going to make a menu using the absolutely amazing variety and abundance of dutch fantastic vegetables that are growing in this time of the year.
I always say that when I go to Israel I end up missing very much the dutch winter vegetables. People don’t believe me. Well, I’ll tell you one thing. Come to this dinner. Try all these goodies this Dutch ground has to offer and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
Creamy yummy warm red lentil soup with Dutch root vegetables.
Sweet potato and their sexy friends as in Hanukkah’s to die for “Latkes” with “sour cream”.
A plate of Dutch winter abundance: Creamy green pumpkin, dive into Celery root, roasted salsify, parsnips filled with Jewish rice tsimes, season greens and more.
Amazing Jewish Sufgania surrendered to divine chocolate sauce, injected by vanilla cream. Accompanied by chef variation on “peppernoten” crust as a bed for parsnips-green tee mouse with broken hearted almonds.
Bottom line: It will be heart braking. Because when I cook traditional holiday food I go deep into my heart. Into the tastes and the memories of my childhood.
Besides we will have some of the best musicians in town singing and playing amazing music to sooth our hearts into this warm and loving holiday reunion.
